Top officials from the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries met with leaders of Caribbean Gas Chemical Limited (CGCL) on Thursday to discuss operational updates, future collaboration, and community development initiatives.
The meeting was led by Dr Roodal Moonilal, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, and Ernesto Kesar, Minister in the Ministry. They were joined by senior ministry officials, including Permanent Secretaries Penelope Bradshaw-Niles and Karinsa Tulsie.
Representing CGCL were CEO Keio Kato, Chairman Omote Masaaki, and other top executives. The company reported a current production and export volume of approximately four million metric tons of methanol. CGCL plays a critical role in the methanol sector.
Discussions also focused on CGCL’s Corporate Social Responsibility programmes, which span education, health, sports, culture, and community development. Minister Kesar commended the company’s work within its surrounding communities and encouraged it to share its business expertise more broadly across the nation to promote entrepreneurship.
Minister Moonilal reaffirmed the government’s commitment to partnering with companies like CGCL to navigate the challenges of the global methanol market. He urged continued cooperation to support Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s vision of reestablishing Trinidad and Tobago as the “energy capital” of the region.
