Minister of Energy and Energy Industries Dr Roodal Moonilal met with executives of state energy companies and Chevron Corporation on Monday, to discuss investment opportunities in Trinidad and Tobago.
Representatives from Heritage Petroleum Company Limited, Paria Fuel Trading Limited and Guaracara Refining Company Limited also attended the meeting.
Those present included Heritage chairman Kurt Ramlal and acting chief executive officer Kerry Rampersad, Paria chairman Nyree Alfonso and acting general manager Nazeem Mohammed, and Guaracara chairman Gowtam Maharaj.
According to the ministry, the meeting continued discussions previously held on investment opportunities in the country’s energy sector.
The discussions focused on infrastructure rehabilitation, supply and trading opportunities.
Chevron representatives referred to existing commercial partnerships with Heritage and Paria and said the company was open to further collaboration with Trinidad and Tobago.
Dr Moonilal said the Government remained committed to supporting development in the energy sector and encouraging coordination between state companies and the private sector.
The ministry said the discussions formed part of efforts to advance projects and partnerships involving the energy industry.
Chevron executives Andrew Stead, director of downstream, midstream and chemicals business development, and Nicole Oakes of the company’s supply, trading origination and commercial team attended virtually.
Officials from the ministry included director of the Downstream Petroleum Management Division Ayasha Nickie, chemical engineer Anushka Benny and acting senior chemical engineer Gerri Cumberbatch.
