The first order of business for Conrad Enill, T&T’s new High Commissioner to Guyana, will be following up on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between T&T and Guyana on energy and agriculture.
Enill confirmed this after presenting his Letters of Credence yesterday to Guyana President Dr Irfaan Ali at the Office of the President on Guyana’s Shiv Chanderpaul Drive in Georgetown.
A post on the Office of the President of Guyana’s website on Tuesday announced the development.
Enill was announced as T&T’s High Commissioner in May.
The Guyana President’s website stated, “High Commissioner Enill has significant experience in the areas of energy, finance and business, having served as minister in his country’s Ministry of Finance (2001-2006) and as the Minister of Energy and Energy Industries (2007-2010).
“On May 26, 1966, formal diplomatic relations were established between Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago. Over the years, the nations have shared a very fruitful relationship.
“To enhance and expand this, they recently inked an agreement to boost cooperation, which was witnessed by President Ali and the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, the Honourable Dr Keith Rowley.”
Ali will be hosted by T&T on a State visit next month, when this country hosts Part II of Caricom’s Agri Investment Forum.
Rowley attended the inaugural forum in Guyana in May. Guyana holds the lead on food security in Caricom’s structure.
