An ear­ly morn­ing fire de­stroyed a dwelling house at Phar­ry Vil­lage, Ve­ga de Oropouche, on the To­co Main Road, leav­ing a fam­i­ly of eight home­less.

A straight­en­ing and paint­ing garage lo­cat­ed at the house was al­so de­stroyed and ve­hi­cles dam­aged.

Loss­es to Seemu­n­gal fam­i­ly have been es­ti­mat­ed $100,000.

Neigh­bours told Guardian Me­dia at around 3.30 am yes­ter­day they heard a loud ex­plo­sion and saw the house on fire.

Ap­pli­ances from San­gre Grande re­spond­ed to the blaze but by the time they ar­rived the house had al­ready burnt to the ground. How­ev­er, they stopped the fire from spread­ing to near­by hous­es.

The cause of the fire has not yet been de­ter­mined.

Anil Juter­am, chair­man of the San­gre Grande Re­gion­al Cor­po­ra­tion, vis­it­ed the fam­i­ly and promised to pro­vide mat­tress­es and a ham­per for the fam­i­ly. He com­mend­ed the fire of­fi­cers for their re­sponse. Al­so at the scene was for­mer MP for Fyz­abad Chan­dresh Shar­ma.
