A fam­i­ly of sev­en has been left home­less af­ter a fire de­stroyed their home along the Ch­agua­nas Main Road yes­ter­day af­ter­noon.

Richard Christo­pher said he lost every­thing in the blaze, which broke out at the fam­i­ly’s home, lo­cat­ed next to the Ch­agua­nas Bor­ough Cor­po­ra­tion, around 1.30 pm.

“I haven’t con­sid­ered how I am go­ing to buy food for my fam­i­ly,” Christo­pher said.

Christo­pher, his wife Rachel and their five chil­dren lived in the house.

Rachel said she re­ceived a tele­phone call short­ly af­ter 1 pm in­form­ing her that a shed at­tached to the house was on fire.

“When I ar­rived, the build­ing was to­tal­ly gut­ted,” she said.

The fam­i­ly lost all of their be­long­ings in the fire, in­clud­ing books be­long­ing to the younger chil­dren.

Fire of­fi­cers are ex­pect­ed to in­ves­ti­gate the cause of the blaze.

Melvin Ho­sein, from the Of­fice of the May­or of Ch­agua­nas, vis­it­ed the fam­i­ly and as­sured them that as­sis­tance would be pro­vid­ed.

How­ev­er, Rachel said the fam­i­ly was des­per­ate for help as they had nowhere to stay.
