Eighty-year-old Sancharee Ramcharan clings to hope that one day her son, Omardath Ramcharan, will return home, but she fears that something bad may have happened to him.
Crying as she sat on a chair at her Warner Street, Ste Madeleine, on Sunday, the mother of ten said she would “look out” for him every day.
She last saw her son in February and since then relatives have been trying to find him. They even searched the hospital, but no one has heard or seen him.
Ramcharan said her son had received personal threats before his disappearance and had told her he feared for his life.
The father of four had separated from his wife and lived in Friendship Village, Ste Madeleine.
“He tell me one of these days you will come and meet me dead. He say I alone is be there and nobody is know what is be going on in my life. But I is come here to look for you because I know you sickly.”
Ramcharan said she was staying with one of her daughters, but decided to return home, when he went missing, hoping that he would visit her.
“I come home and looking for him, but I can’t find him,” she said.
Ramcharan said she still holds on to hope, but there are moments when fear would take over and she would wonder if he was murdered.
She said she reported the threats against her son to the Ste Madeleine Police Station, but the lack of feedback from police has left her believing the matter is not being treated seriously.
Guardian Media spoke to a senior police officer who assured that the matter is being investigated. Anyone with information is asked to contact the St Madeleine Police Station or 800-TIPS.
