Rel­a­tives of Saeed Ali are ur­gent­ly ap­peal­ing for blood do­na­tions fol­low­ing a se­ri­ous road traf­fic ac­ci­dent last Fri­day that claimed the life of his moth­er and left both him and his fa­ther hos­pi­talised.

The fam­i­ly is ask­ing for ur­gent blood do­na­tions for Saeed Ali at the EWM­SC Blood Bank.

Saeed re­mains in crit­i­cal con­di­tion at the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex (EWM­SC), while his fa­ther, 57-year-old In­shan Ali, is in the fa­cil­i­ty’s In­ten­sive Care Unit.

His moth­er, 60-year-old Hy­matie Ali, died at the scene.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, Hy­matie was seat­ed in the front pas­sen­ger seat of a Mit­subishi Lancer when the ve­hi­cle col­lid­ed with an­oth­er along the Ca­roni South Bank Road. The fam­i­ly had re­port­ed­ly been re­turn­ing home from mosque at the time of the crash.

Saeed was seat­ed in the back seat and suf­fered mul­ti­ple in­juries. He was tak­en to the Mt Hope hos­pi­tal, where he re­mains ward­ed.

His cousin, Shaz­im Ali, said the fam­i­ly is in mourn­ing but is fo­cused on help­ing the sur­viv­ing rel­a­tives re­cov­er.

“We lost a beau­ti­ful soul, and now we are do­ing every­thing we can to help Saeed and Un­cle In­shan pull through,” he said.
