A 56-year-old Diego Martin woman was killed in what police investigators believe is another case of violence involving a person the woman had known well.
Marva Sutherland, of Andrew Trace, Blue Basin, Diego Martin, was the fourth woman to be killed in four days this week from Monday to yesterday.
Sunderland, an amputee, was found dead in a bedroom in an apartment where she was a tenant.
She was found just after 9 am lying on the ground in a pool of blood with a cloth covering her head. Police found a rock on the ground near her body. There was a wound on her head.
Relatives of the mother of five and grandmother of 22 gathered at the home and were distraught at the news of Sutherland’s death.
“I want justice for my mom. I don’t know what happened but I want justice for her and I need them to investigate and let us know what happen to her, she did not deserve to die like this,” Sutherland’s daughter, Simone Sutherland said.
Friends of the Sutherland family Precious King, left, and Michelle Norton cry following the gruesome discovery of the body of Marva Sutherland at her Andrew Drive, Blue Basin, Diego Martin home yesterday.

“My mom complained to my brother three days ago that (the suspect) was acting mentally unstable and she wanted to go somewhere safe. However, she never went.”
Simone told Guardian Media, “My mom came to Trinidad and Tobago from St Vincent when she was nine years old. She lost her leg due to diabetes and she has been renting here. I’m not too sure what happened and my mom is not a person that likes to be involved in a confrontation. She was very nice and loved by a lot of people.”
The suspect was arrested by police and taken into custody while investigations proceed into the murder.
Less than 24 hours prior, Ellen Tishana Mohammed, 25, of La Brea Village, Guayaguayare, a housewife and mother of three, was at her home when a man she previously had a relationship with allegedly dealt her several chops, almost severing her neck in the process.
The suspect left the scene and stopped police officers on patrol to tell them what he had done. He was detained and subsequently handed over to officers of the Mayaro Police Station.
Simone Sutherland is comforted by her brother Randell following the gruesome discovery of their murdered mother Marva at the family’s home on Andrew Drive, Blue Basin, Diego Martin, yesterday.
