A fire of­fi­cer was knocked down and killed by a truck in Ma­yaro on Mon­day, while wait­ing for trans­porta­tion to work.

37-year-old Fire­fight­er Satesh Ramkissoon died around 12:30 am to­day, at the San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal.  He was at­tached to the Ma­yaro Fire Sta­tion.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, around 3:50 pm on Mon­day 14 De­cem­ber 2020, a truck was pro­ceed­ing along the Na­pari­ma Ma­yaro Road when a car tried to over­take the truck.

Po­lice said at the same time, the truck veered in­to the path of the car, caus­ing both ve­hi­cles to col­lide at Bal­a­ta East Junc­tion.  The truck then slammed in­to a cul­vert and struck Ramkissoon, who was stand­ing on the side of the road.

Ramkiss­son, of Bris­tol Road, Ma­yaro, was tak­en to the health fa­cil­i­ty and then trans­ferred to the San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal, where he died this morn­ing.
