Firearms seized, one held in early morning anti-crime raids

One man was de­tained and two firearms seized dur­ing joint po­lice op­er­a­tions across Port-of-Spain and the North East­ern Di­vi­sion on Fri­day.

Ac­cord­ing to a me­dia re­lease from the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS), the in­tel­li­gence-led ex­er­cise took place be­tween 3:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. un­der the au­thor­i­ty of the State of Emer­gency Reg­u­la­tions.

In Laven­tille, of­fi­cers searched homes at Bev­er­ly Hills and Cana­da Plan­nings, Mar­cano Quar­ry Road. Dur­ing a sweep of the area, a shot­gun was re­cov­ered.

The op­er­a­tion then shift­ed to Jo­Jo Lane in Aranguez, where of­fi­cers found a Glock pis­tol, six­teen rounds of 9mm am­mu­ni­tion, and two spent 9mm shells.

The Port-of-Spain Gang Unit de­tained one per­son for fur­ther ques­tion­ing re­lat­ed to gang ac­tiv­i­ty.
