Police are investigating two robberies that happened in the same general area in San Juan less than an hour apart on Thursday morning.

In the first incident, two Carapichaima fish vendors were travelling in their Kia K2700 truck on Ponta Rosa Heights, Bushe Street, North, Petit Bourg, at around 8.30 am with fish for sale when they were flagged down by a man at the side of the road who pretended to be a customer.

As they stopped the truck, two men, one with a gun and the other holding a hammer, confronted the vendors who ordered them to hand over the cash.

The bandits stole the men's cellphones and $3,750 cash, before ordering them to drive out of the neighbourhood. Minutes later, the driver of a bread van was offloading goods to a mini-mart on Upper Bushe Street, when he was confronted by two bandits, one of whom had a gun.

The bandits stole $500 cash before running away. Police from the San Juan CID visited both scenes and are seeking CCTV footage as part of their enquiries.
