Fitzgerald Hinds has been appointed as Minister of Public Utilities while radio personality Jason Williams has moved from the studio to the Senate following the resignation Robert Le Hunte over the weekend.
Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley in a statement posted to his social media confirmed he has advised President Paula-Mae Weekes to revoke Le Hunte's appointment as a Senator and Minister of Public Utilities.
Le Hunte issued his resignation as a Senator and Minister of Public Utilities with effect from May 16, 2020, following a fallout in the cabinet concerning plans for the Water and Sewerage Authority.
Hinds, the Laventille West MP, will take up the Public Utilities portfolio, which he previously held until Le Hunte assumed the position in June 2017.
Hinds, however, will continue his role as Minister in the Ministry of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs.
The Prime Minister also confirmed Williams, who had only last week been announced as the PNM prospective candidate for Barataria/San Juan, will fill Le Hunte's spot in the Senate.
