Ma­jor an­ti-crime op­er­a­tions con­duct­ed in the East­ern Di­vi­sion have led to the ar­rest of five per­sons and re­cov­ery of three guns.

The Po­lice Ser­vice says the ex­er­cise to re­trieve il­le­gal guns and am­mu­ni­tion was con­duct­ed in the Ma­yaro and Rio Claro dis­tricts.

In Ma­yaro, two guns and 11 rounds of am­mu­ni­tion were seized by po­lice, which in­clud­ed one Berret­ta pis­tol with eight rounds of .380 am­mu­ni­tion, and one Smith & Wes­son and three rounds and .38 split am­mu­ni­tion.

Four per­sons were ar­rest­ed and charged with pos­ses­sion of il­le­gal gun and am­mu­ni­tion.

Mean­while, in Rio Claro, one re­volver and five rounds of 9-mil­lime­tre am­mu­ni­tion were seized by po­lice. One per­son was ar­rest­ed.

All five per­sons ar­rest­ed have been charged with the of­fence Pos­ses­sion of Firearm and Am­mu­ni­tion.
