Enterprise flood victims have been robbed of their household appliances.
Jassodra Bachan,64, her daughter Leela Mohan, 39, and granddaughter Shania Shah,18, of Crown Trace had their home flooded out on Sunday.
Shah said they lost their food, beds and other belongings in the flood. She said in a last-minute bid to save their stove and refrigerator they placed both appliances on a concrete structure in their front yard and covered it with plastic so it would not get damaged.
Shah said on Monday morning they saw both items missing.
Shah said she believed drug addicts or pipers stole the items to sell as scrap iron. She said the family spent most of the day begging for a ring stove to use and are uncertain how they would make it through the rest of the week. Chaguanas Mayor Gopaul Boodhan said he was very disturbed that anyone could rob persons who were flooded out.
Boodhan said he would be seeking assistance for the family.
