Four people were arrested while two firearms, ammunition, and marijuana trees were seized during an anti-crime exercise carried out in the North Eastern Division on Wednesday.
Police said the intelligence-led operation was conducted between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. in the Barataria district by officers attached to several specialised units.
During the exercise, officers went to Sawmill Avenue, where they arrested a 20-year-old man for possession of a Glock 19 pistol and two magazines containing a total of 25 rounds of ammunition.
Investigators said further searches in the same district led officers to an abandoned area where they discovered and destroyed 30 fully grown marijuana trees.
Police also arrested three men, ages 23 to 26, all of Morvant, in connection with the seizure of a Beretta pistol and a magazine containing 15 rounds of ammunition.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service said investigations into the matters are continuing.
The operation was spearheaded by W/Snr Supt Guy-Alleyne, Supt Birch, and ASP Ali and involved officers from the Morvant Criminal Investigations Department and Police Station, the North Eastern Division Task Force, the North Eastern Division Gang Intelligence Unit, Air Support Unit, and the Coastal and Marine Unit.
The latest exercise forms part of ongoing efforts by police to target illegal firearms, gang-related activities, and narcotics trafficking across communities within the division.
Police have repeatedly warned that intelligence-driven operations will continue in crime hotspots as law enforcement officers intensify efforts to remove illegal weapons and drugs from the streets.
Anyone with information related to illegal firearms, narcotics, or other criminal activity is urged to contact the police or share information anonymously through official crime-reporting channels.
