Four of the mu­nic­i­pal po­lice of­fi­cers who were sus­pend­ed fol­low­ing the mur­der of act­ing Cpl Anus­ka Ever­s­ley and theft of firearms and am­mu­ni­tion from the San Fer­nan­do Mu­nic­i­pal Po­lice Sta­tion back in April have re­turned to work.

T&T Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS) cor­po­rate com­mu­ni­ca­tions man­ag­er, Joanne Archie, con­firmed this yes­ter­day. How­ev­er, she said a su­per­in­ten­dent who was among the group ini­tial­ly sus­pend­ed fol­low­ing that in­ci­dent re­mained on sus­pen­sion.

Speak­ing dur­ing the week­ly me­dia brief­ing at the Po­lice Ad­min­is­tra­tion Build­ing, Port-of-Spain, Archie said the four con­sta­bles re­turned to ac­tive du­ty at the sta­tion al­most one month ago.

She added that the in­ves­ti­ga­tion in­to the in­ci­dent was con­tin­u­ing apace.

Ever­s­ley’s bloody body was dis­cov­ered at the sta­tion at King’s Wharf, La­dy Hailes Av­enue, around 4.40 am on April 19. The ar­moury in the build­ing was sub­se­quent­ly dis­cov­ered emp­ty.

An au­top­sy re­vealed the 42-year-old moth­er of three was beat­en and stran­gled.

Mu­nic­i­pal po­lice con­sta­ble Ji­van “Bigs” Coop­er, con­struc­tion work­er Kwame Arnold, 20, and scrap iron deal­er Nicholas “Nico” Ram­dass, 24, both of Clax­ton Bay, have since been charged with Ever­s­ley’s mur­der and a se­ries of firearms traf­fick­ing of­fences linked to the stolen weapons and am­mu­ni­tion.

The TTPS au­dit to de­ter­mine how many firearms and just how much am­mu­ni­tion were stolen re­mains on­go­ing.
