Four people were arrested and one firearm and quantities of ammunition were seized during anti-crime exercises conducted across several divisions yesterday.
The TTPS said in the North Eastern Division, Task Force officers, accompanied by personnel of the Morvant, San Juan and Santa Cruz Police Stations, conducted an exercise between 10 am and 2 pm, yesterday, Monday 31st, March, 2025.
During the exercise, they stopped one black-coloured Toyota Yaris motor vehicle, with a male driver and one male minor in the backseat.
The driver was held for producing an invalid driver’s permit and Certificate of Insurance. A search of the vehicle reportedly resulted in one pistol loaded with a magazine containing 10 rounds of ammunition, being discovered inside a bag.
The suspect, a 35-year-old of Laventille, was arrested in connection with the find.
Meanwhile, an anti-crime exercise conducted in the La Romaine district last night, resulted in the arrest of a 40-year-old man for possession of cannabis and possession of a weapon.
Two other suspects, ages 53 and 29, both of San Fernando, were arrested for possession of cannabis and possession of an offensive weapon.
And, ongoing operations in the Port of Spain Division, conducted by the Inter-Agency Task Force, directed by ACP Collis Hazel and coordinated by Snr Supt Spence, Supt Ramsook and ASP Singh, resulted in the recovery of four laptops and two Trinidad and Tobago passports, after they were reported stolen from the Central Division.
With the assistance of officers of the Central Division Criminal Investigations Department, officers proceeded to an incomplete concrete structure at Beetham Gardens around 2:45 pm, on Sunday 30th March 2025.
There, they found two computer bags containing the stolen laptops and passports.
The IATF officers then proceeded to conduct searches in the Port of Spain Division, which resulted in the discovery of five rounds of 5.56 ammunition on the top floor of a building.
Investigations are ongoing into all of the matters.
