Four suspects were arrested in connection with firearm-related and larceny offences in separate incidents this week.
Around 3:05 p.m. on Tuesday, officers from the Port-of-Spain Division carried out an exercise in the St Clair district during which they stopped a white Nissan AD wagon, with three male passengers.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of one pistol loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition. The vehicle also had false registration plates and was suspected to have been stolen.
The suspects, ages 20 to 24, all of Morvant, were arrested in connection with the find.
In a separate operation on Monday, officers from the Rio Claro Police Station conducted an exercise in the Eastern Division between 11:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. They arrested a 24-year-old man from Rio Claro and recovered several power tools previously reported stolen.
Investigations are ongoing.
