Four days af­ter he suc­cumbed to can­cer, the fu­ner­al for the late Pres­by­ter­ian min­is­ter Rev Kendrick Sook­nar­ine will take place on Mon­day at the Sushamachar Pres­by­ter­ian Church.

Speak­ing to Guardian Me­dia on Sun­day, Sook­nar­ine's wife An­gi Ben­jamin said they were mar­ried for 30 years.

She said Rev Sook­nar­ine bat­tled can­cer for three months be­fore he died.

"He was di­ag­nosed with Stage four colon can­cer and he died at home on Thurs­day. He was an out­door per­son and was a stu­dent of the Mas­ter's pro­gramme of The­ol­o­gy," Mrs Ben­jamin said.

Ben­jamin said her hus­band de­vot­ed 40 years of his life to serv­ing at the Pres­by­ter­ian Church.

"He was very ac­tive in build­ing the youth min­istry. He was a lec­tur­er at the Cipri­ani Labour Col­lege, lec­tur­ing in ethics, and al­so a lec­tur­er at the St An­drew's The­o­log­i­cal Col­lege."

Sook­nar­ine and Ben­jamin have four chil­dren - Narend, Calil, Kavi­ta and Al­lan. The fu­ner­al will take place at 10 am. Of­fi­ci­at­ing will be Rev Daniel Teelucks­ingh and Mod­er­a­tor of the Pres­by­ter­ian Church Rev Joy Ab­dul-Mo­han.
