The Trinidad and To­ba­go De­fense Force and The Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice are work­ing to­geth­er to search for a Galil as­sault ri­fle which went miss­ing this morn­ing from the Tetron Bar­racks.

In a press con­fer­ence to­day, led by Chief of De­fense Staff Daryl Daniel, Lieu­tenant Colonel Singh and DCP Curt Si­mon of the TTPS, re­port­ed that around 12:30 this morn­ing, an of­fi­cer at Tetron Bar­racks re­port­ed to his su­pe­ri­ors his un­loaded Galil as­sault ri­fle was miss­ing.

Of­fi­cials say Tetron Bar­racks are cur­rent­ly con­fined at this time in keep­ing with stan­dard op­er­at­ing pro­ce­dure. The TTPS was alert­ed and a pre­lim­i­nary in­ves­ti­ga­tion has be­gun.

A search was con­duct­ed of the vicin­i­ty but it wasn’t found. Of­fi­cials say the TTDF, “Sees this as a very se­ri­ous in­ci­dent.”

When asked how many weapons had gone miss­ing, Daniel said, “This is the first case and God’s will­ing the last for the year.”

DCP Curt Si­mon said the po­lice ser­vice will leave no stone un­turned look­ing for the weapon.

Si­mon said there is no re­port of miss­ing am­mu­ni­tion

He called on the pub­lic to give any in­for­ma­tion they may have.
