The Geri­atric So­ci­ety of Trinidad and To­ba­go (GSTT) host­ed a flu vac­ci­na­tion dri­ve for the gen­er­al pub­lic on Mon­day in front of West Bees Su­per­mar­ket in Diego Mar­tin.

The ini­tia­tive was aimed at pro­mot­ing pub­lic health aware­ness and in­creas­ing pro­tec­tion against sea­son­al in­fluen­za with­in the com­mu­ni­ty, es­pe­cial­ly the vul­ner­a­ble el­der­ly pop­u­la­tion.

A to­tal of 66 flu vac­cines were ad­min­is­tered dur­ing the dri­ve.

The vac­cines were sup­plied by the North West Re­gion­al Health Au­thor­i­ty (NWRHA), Min­istry of Health, whose sup­port made this out­reach pos­si­ble.

Adding a no­table high­light to the event, Diego Mar­tin Cen­tral Mem­ber of Par­lia­ment, Symon de No­bri­ga, re­ceived his flu shot, en­cour­ag­ing res­i­dents to pri­ori­tise their health and get vac­ci­nat­ed.

Passers-by, shop­pers and com­mu­ni­ty mem­bers wel­comed the op­por­tu­ni­ty to get vac­ci­nat­ed on the spot, with many ex­press­ing ap­pre­ci­a­tion for the con­ve­nience of the out­reach.

The GSTT ex­tend­ed thanks to the Min­istry of Health and NWRHA for its con­tin­ued sup­port and com­mit­ment to pro­mot­ing pub­lic health, pre­ven­tion, and com­mu­ni­ty well-be­ing through such ac­ces­si­ble ini­tia­tives.
