A 43-year-old man of Ar­gyle, To­ba­go, ap­peared be­fore a Scar­bor­ough mag­is­trate yes­ter­day charged with one count of sex­u­al pen­e­tra­tion of a child.

The man was ar­rest­ed by of­fi­cers of the To­ba­go Child Pro­tec­tion Unit (CPU) on Tues­day fol­low­ing a re­port made by a 13-year-old girl that she was al­leged­ly as­sault­ed by a man whom she knew.

Ac­cord­ing to the po­lice, the girl told in­ves­ti­ga­tors that the man, who vis­it­ed her fam­i­ly’s home on the day in ques­tion, asked her to make juice for him. How­ev­er, when she went in­to the kitchen to do so the man fol­lowed her there and al­leged­ly sex­u­al­ly as­sault­ed her. The girl con­fid­ed to her aunt about the crime. The aunt then re­port­ed the in­ci­dent to the po­lice.

PC Gab­by of the To­ba­go CPU head­ed the in­ves­ti­ga­tion in­to the re­port, which led to the charge of sex­u­al pen­e­tra­tion of a child be­ing laid against the sus­pect.
