A 43-year-old man of Argyle, Tobago, appeared before a Scarborough magistrate yesterday charged with one count of sexual penetration of a child.
The man was arrested by officers of the Tobago Child Protection Unit (CPU) on Tuesday following a report made by a 13-year-old girl that she was allegedly assaulted by a man whom she knew.
According to the police, the girl told investigators that the man, who visited her family’s home on the day in question, asked her to make juice for him. However, when she went into the kitchen to do so the man followed her there and allegedly sexually assaulted her. The girl confided to her aunt about the crime. The aunt then reported the incident to the police.
PC Gabby of the Tobago CPU headed the investigation into the report, which led to the charge of sexual penetration of a child being laid against the suspect.
