In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing in­to the death of a four-year-old girl in Sea Lots on Thurs­day af­ter­noon.

Po­lice said the child’s step­fa­ther dis­cov­ered she was not breath­ing and called an am­bu­lance. Emer­gency Health Ser­vice (EHS) work­ers took the girl and her step­fa­ther to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex in Mt Hope, where staff at­tempt­ed to re­sus­ci­tate her but were un­suc­cess­ful. She was de­clared dead at 6.07 pm.

Of­fi­cers from Besson Street Po­lice Sta­tion sub­se­quent­ly vis­it­ed Pi­o­neer Dri­ve, Sea Lots, to speak with the girl’s step­fa­ther but were un­able to lo­cate him af­ter they ar­rived at the lo­ca­tion.

Po­lice al­so tried to con­tact the child’s bi­o­log­i­cal par­ents but had not reached them up to yes­ter­day.
