Min­is­ter in the Of­fice of the Prime Min­is­ter and for­mer Na­tion­al Se­cu­ri­ty Min­is­ter, Fitzger­ald Hinds, met with new­ly ap­point­ed Min­is­ter of Na­tion­al Se­cu­ri­ty Min­is­ter, Mar­vin Gon­za­les on Tues­day. Gon­za­les was pro­vid­ed with a com­pre­hen­sive brief­ing on the Min­istry’s op­er­a­tions and strate­gic pri­or­i­ties.

Gon­za­les al­so took the op­por­tu­ni­ty to thank the out­go­ing Hinds for his ded­i­cat­ed ser­vice and lead­er­ship. He ac­knowl­edged Min­is­ter Hinds' con­tri­bu­tions to na­tion­al se­cu­ri­ty and ex­pressed his ap­pre­ci­a­tion for the foun­da­tion laid dur­ing his tenure.

In re­sponse, Hinds ex­tend­ed his best wish­es to Gon­za­les in his new port­fo­lio. He ex­pressed con­fi­dence in Min­is­ter Gon­za­les' abil­i­ty to lead the Min­istry ef­fec­tive­ly and to con­tin­ue ad­vanc­ing na­tion­al se­cu­ri­ty ef­forts for the ben­e­fit of the na­tion.

Ac­cord­ing to a state­ment from the Min­istry, fol­low­ing the brief­ing, Min­is­ter Gon­za­les im­me­di­ate­ly got down to busi­ness, en­gag­ing with se­nior of­fi­cials to dis­cuss on­go­ing se­cu­ri­ty ini­tia­tives and key pol­i­cy mat­ters. He ex­pressed his com­mit­ment to strength­en­ing na­tion­al se­cu­ri­ty, en­hanc­ing in­ter-agency col­lab­o­ra­tion, and en­sur­ing the safe­ty and well-be­ing of all cit­i­zens of Trinidad and To­ba­go.

Gon­za­les em­pha­sized his ded­i­ca­tion to tack­ling press­ing se­cu­ri­ty chal­lenges and ad­vanc­ing ini­tia­tives that will im­prove the ef­fi­cien­cy and ef­fec­tive­ness of the na­tion’s se­cu­ri­ty ap­pa­ra­tus.

He al­so ex­pressed his ap­pre­ci­a­tion to the Min­istry’s staff for their con­tin­ued ser­vice and ded­i­ca­tion to the Min­istry and by ex­ten­sion this na­tion over the years.
