Gov­ern­ment of­fices will be closed from noon to­day ex­cept for es­sen­tial ser­vices. A press re­lease is­sued to­day by the Of­fice of the Prime Min­is­ter said the de­ci­sion was tak­en by the Prime Min­is­ter out of an abun­dance of cau­tion. It is to help min­imise the num­ber of per­sons on the na­tion’s roads and to al­low first re­spon­ders, if nec­es­sary, to eas­i­er ac­cess and mo­bil­i­ty. 

The fol­low­ing is a press re­lease from the Of­fice of the Prime Min­is­ter:

Trinidad and To­ba­go Me­te­o­ro­log­i­cal Ser­vice has been mon­i­tor­ing the cen­tre of Po­ten­tial Trop­i­cal Cy­clone Two to the east of Trinidad. On the fore­cast track, the sys­tem will pass near or over por­tions of the south­ern Wind­ward Is­lands tonight. 

As a re­sult, Trinidad and To­ba­go has been un­der a Trop­i­cal Storm Warn­ing. Giv­en its present track and the like­ly storm con­di­tions with project pe­ri­ods of heavy to in­tense show­ers and/or thun­der­storms are like­ly, out of an abun­dance of cau­tion a de­ci­sion has been tak­en by the Prime Min­is­ter of the Re­pub­lic of Trinidad and To­ba­go, Dr. the Ho­n­ourable Kei­th Row­ley, to close all Gov­ern­ment of­fices at 12:00 noon to­day, Tues­day June 28, 2022, ex­cept for es­sen­tial ser­vices. 

Heads of De­part­ment will com­mu­ni­cate with their re­spec­tive staff. This is in an ef­fort to min­imise the num­ber of per­sons on the na­tion’s roads and to al­low first re­spon­ders, if nec­es­sary, to eas­i­er ac­cess and mo­bil­i­ty. In­di­vid­u­als are ad­vised to pay at­ten­tion to news up­dates and fol­low in­struc­tions of Gov­ern­ment Of­fi­cials and take nec­es­sary steps to pro­tect lives, liveli­hood and prop­ert
