Sur­veil­lance op­er­a­tions led to the ar­rest of a 33-year-old man for pos­ses­sion of a firearm and am­mu­ni­tion and pos­ses­sion of mar­i­jua­na for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing.

Po­lice said on Jan­u­ary 11, af­ter re­ceiv­ing in­for­ma­tion about il­lic­it ac­tiv­i­ties, of­fi­cers took up strate­gic po­si­tions along Ram­per­sad Trace, San­gre Grande where they ob­served a man at­tempt­ing to con­ceal items in some bush­es on the south­ern side of the road­way.

The of­fi­cers ap­proached, searched the man and al­leged­ly found in a knap­sack, sev­en wrapped plas­tic pack­ages each con­tain­ing mar­i­jua­na, with a to­tal weight of sev­en kilo­grammes.

A fur­ther search re­sult­ed in the seizure of one met­al box con­tain­ing an ex­tend­ed mag­a­zine loaded with 29 rounds of nine-mil­lime­tre am­mu­ni­tion and one cam­ou­flage jack­et.

The 33-year-old man of Ram­per­sad Trace was im­me­di­ate­ly ar­rest­ed.

The op­er­a­tion was con­duct­ed by of­fi­cers from the Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tion De­part­ment, East­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force and the

Spe­cial Op­er­a­tions Unit.
