Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the mur­der of a 51-year-old man whose body was found on a mat­tress at his San­gre Grande home ear­ly on Sat­ur­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said neigh­bours re­port­ed hear­ing gun­shots out­side their home on Kessonar­ine Trace, Fos­ter Road, at around 4.15 am and went to the scene.

On ar­rival they found the body of James Paul ly­ing on a mat­tress in the liv­ing room with gun­shots about his body.

A dis­trict med­ical of­fi­cer was called in who de­clared Paul dead.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors found nine spent 9 mm shells at the scene.

No mo­tive was es­tab­lished for Paul's mur­der up to Sun­day morn­ing.

Of­fi­cers of the Re­gion II Homi­cide Bu­reau are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
