The mother of a 36-year-old man who was stabbed to death in Sangre Grande yesterday morning, is calling on the police to arrest the man responsible for her son’s murder soon.
Police said around 12 am, Ancil Ramkhelawan, of Graham Trace, Sangre Grande, was in front of a burger cart near the East Lime Casino when he got into an altercation with a man who stabbed him several times with an object in his chest. He died at the scene.
The suspect then walked off.
Ramkhelawan’s mother, Sandra, called for justice. Speaking at her home, the mother of ten said she believed her son may have won money at the nearby casino and was killed in a robbery attempt.
She called on the police to ensure her family got justice.
Ramkhelawan’s sister, Lydia, lamented that her brother lost his life to violence and died at the side of the road.
She too called for justice.
The sister also had a message for those responsible for murders in the country, urging them to stop and allow peace to prevail.
Insp Ragbir, acting Sgt Hanooman, PC Brown, WPC Lyons all responded to the crime. They were joined by PCs Maraj, of the Arouca Homicide Bureau Region 2.
Investigators yesterday said an arrest was imminent. They were combing through CCTV footage and taking statements from eyewitnesses.
