The moth­er of a 36-year-old man who was stabbed to death in San­gre Grande yes­ter­day morn­ing, is call­ing on the po­lice to ar­rest the man re­spon­si­ble for her son’s mur­der soon.

Po­lice said around 12 am, An­cil Ramkhelawan, of Gra­ham Trace, San­gre Grande, was in front of a burg­er cart near the East Lime Casi­no when he got in­to an al­ter­ca­tion with a man who stabbed him sev­er­al times with an ob­ject in his chest. He died at the scene.

The sus­pect then walked off.

Ramkhelawan’s moth­er, San­dra, called for jus­tice. Speak­ing at her home, the moth­er of ten said she be­lieved her son may have won mon­ey at the near­by casi­no and was killed in a rob­bery at­tempt.

She called on the po­lice to en­sure her fam­i­ly got jus­tice.

Ramkhelawan’s sis­ter, Ly­dia, lament­ed that her broth­er lost his life to vi­o­lence and died at the side of the road.

She too called for jus­tice.

The sis­ter al­so had a mes­sage for those re­spon­si­ble for mur­ders in the coun­try, urg­ing them to stop and al­low peace to pre­vail.

In­sp Rag­bir, act­ing Sgt Hanooman, PC Brown, WPC Lyons all re­spond­ed to the crime. They were joined by PCs Maraj, of the Arou­ca Homi­cide Bu­reau Re­gion 2.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors yes­ter­day said an ar­rest was im­mi­nent. They were comb­ing through CCTV footage and tak­ing state­ments from eye­wit­ness­es.
