It was billed as the clash of the islands.
And when the results were announced early this morning Grenada came out on top.
Grenadian Soca artiste Mr Killa (Hollice Mapp) claimed the million-dollar title of this year's International Power Soca Monarch. His countryman Mr Legz (Hector Thomas) placed third in the Power Soca category.
Grenada also featured in the International Groovy Soca Monarch, with V'ghn (Jevaugh John) placing third.
Those three were among five acts from Grenada to participate in the International Soca Monarch competition.
The other members of the Grenada contingent Lil Natty and Thunda (Dingaan Henry and Nyelon Williams) and Mandella linkz also gave credible performances.
T&T, which had the most representatives in the competition and the home field advantage, managed to place second in the Power Soca category with veteran Neil "Iwer" George.
Swappi (Marvin Davis) won the International Groovy Soca Monarch title and the $500,000 prize.
St Lucia also featured in the winners' row with Teddyson John placing second in the Groovy category.
The International Soca Monarch competition was yesterday held in its first year under the chairmanship of Fayann Lyons-Alvarez.
It was a fantastic first showing.
The show began 90 minutes later than anticipated but moved smoothly once it got started.
It began with a tribute to icon Shadow (Winston Bailey) who passed away last year.
Neval Chatelal and Nishard Mayhroo performed their song Fyah for Change which won them the Chutney Soca Monarch title a couple of weeks ago.
The Producers Pick category was the first competitive aspect of the show to take place.
Lincoln won that category with his song You Bad Too.
Then the Groovy Soca category started.
Swappi's winning performance was a loving tribute to Shadow.
He and his dancers wore all-black outfits associated with the Shadow.
Following the Groovy category, however, a young man climbed the Soca Monarch stage to tell host Sunny Bling (Kerron Sealy) that people were picking pockets and stealing phones.
One of his friends was a victim, he said.
After that warning, it was later announced that another patron had lost two iPhones and was willing to pay $3,000 on the spot for their return.
The Power Soca category only really came alive when contestant number six, Mr Killa touched the stage.
And as has become the norm when Mr Killa's song Run Wid It was played throughout the season the crowd were worked into a frenzy.
Among the things that were lifted up through the crowd was a "casket", a toilet bowl, and an inflatable dolphin.
Mr Killa ended his performance by boarding a makeshift boat that was lifted through the crowd before it returned to stage.
Iwer who before the competition was perceived as Mr Killa's only real threat to the title performed after him.
Iwer, dressed as Aquaman, also worked the crowd into a frenzy as they were splashed with water.
Mr Legz performed after Iwer, and enhanced his performance by bringing out Denise Belfon.
Mr Killa, Iwer and Mr Legz were the last three Power Soca competitors.
And the results placed them in the same order they competed.
The last three Power Soca competitors placed one, two and three.
Around 3.30 am the results were announced.
Swappi was the only one of the winners not present.
The Grenada contingent celebrated with Mr Killa.
Numerous Grenada flags were seen waving in the crowd.
