Al­lis­ter Gue­var­ro has been ap­point­ed Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice, ef­fec­tive June 18. The ap­point­ment fol­lows the com­ple­tion of the re­cruit­ment and se­lec­tion process con­duct­ed by the Po­lice Ser­vice Com­mis­sion.

On April 12, 2024 the Com­mis­sion ad­ver­tised the va­can­cy for the of­fice of Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice.

Last Fri­day, the House of Rep­re­sen­ta­tives ap­proved the nom­i­na­tion of Gue­var­ro for the po­si­tion. Fol­low­ing the ap­proval, the Com­mis­sion says it ex­er­cised its con­sti­tu­tion­al du­ty and pro­mot­ed Gue­var­ro—then Act­ing Se­nior Su­per­in­ten­dent of Po­lice—to the po­si­tion of Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice with­in the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS).

Yes­ter­day, the Com­mis­sion pre­sent­ed Gue­var­ro with his of­fi­cial Let­ter of Pro­mo­tion.

The TTPS will host a hand­ing over pa­rade this af­ter­noon for Gue­var­ro.
