Po­lice Com­mis­sion­er Al­lis­ter Gue­var­ro yes­ter­day dodged ques­tions on key is­sues, in­clud­ing the on­go­ing pub­lic spat with­in the Peo­ple’s Na­tion­al Move­ment (PNM) and al­le­ga­tions of cor­rup­tion in the San Fer­nan­do East con­stituen­cy.

Gue­var­ro was among the dig­ni­taries at­tend­ing the Prison Ser­vice Art Ex­hi­bi­tion at Long Cir­cu­lar Mall, St James.

When ap­proached by Guardian Me­dia, how­ev­er, he walked to­wards his ve­hi­cle, say­ing on­ly: “Have a blessed one.”

Gue­var­ro was asked whether he had re­ceived any re­port or whether al­le­ga­tions of cor­rup­tion raised by San Fer­nan­do East MP Bri­an Man­ning con­cern­ing his con­stituen­cy had been brought to his at­ten­tion. He did not an­swer.

In a suc­cinct re­sponse to Guardian Me­dia sub­se­quent­ly, TTPS cor­po­rate com­mu­ni­ca­tions man­ag­er Joanne Archie said nei­ther the Fraud Squad nor the An­ti-Cor­rup­tion In­ves­ti­ga­tion Bu­reau had re­ceived any in­for­ma­tion from Man­ning so far.

Gue­var­ro was al­so asked to clar­i­fy whether his emer­gency trip last week was for per­son­al or pro­fes­sion­al rea­sons and which coun­try he had vis­it­ed. Those ques­tions were al­so ig­nored.

Gue­var­ro was fol­lowed for near­ly 40 sec­onds through the mall, smil­ing as the ques­tions were put to him.
