The Dou­ble Day Ho­tel on the Tuschen Pub­lic Road, East Bank, Es­se­qui­bo, Guyana was set on fire Thurs­day morn­ing by irate vil­lagers af­ter the body of miss­ing 11-year-old girl, Adri­an­na Younge, was found in the pool.

An­gry res­i­dents al­so set on fire the home of the ho­tel’s own­er.

The house is lo­cat­ed three streets away from the ho­tel.

Res­i­dents of the area were up­set at the way the search for the girl was han­dled.

There are ques­tions about whether the pool had been prop­er­ly searched for the girl af­ter she went miss­ing.

Po­lice on Wednes­day said their video sur­veil­lance sys­tem showed that Adri­an­na Younge en­tered a red and black Toy­ota Raum mo­tor car bear­ing reg­is­tra­tion num­ber PSS 4684, which drove off in an east­ern di­rec­tion to­wards Vreed-en-Hoop.

The ho­tel was searched on Wednes­day by fam­i­ly mem­bers and lat­er by po­lice.

Po­lice said they searched around the ho­tel, in­clud­ing rooms, store­room, yard, and roof, but they came up emp­ty-hand­ed.

How­ev­er, the ho­tel man­ag­er said the sur­veil­lance cam­eras at the fa­cil­i­ty were not work­ing when he was asked by in­ves­ti­ga­tors.

Some­one was heard say­ing, “we searched the pool, we searched the pool yes­ter­day (Wednes­day)”.
