Guyana says it will open the World Trade Centre Georgetown, Guyana (WTCG) in October this year.
It made the announcement at the World Trade Center Association’s 55th annual General Assembly and Global Business Forum that ended in Marseille, France last week.
A statement issued here by the WTCG said that its executive chairman, Komal Samaro, had issued an invitation letter to the delegates inviting them to “the formal opening of the World Trade Centre Georgetown (Guyana) on Tuesday, October 21st, 2025.”
The statement said that the opening has been timed to precede the annual WTCA Members Forum in New York City which is scheduled to open on October 28.
“This way, delegates attending the WTCA meeting from across the globe and who have expressed an interest in coming to Guyana could find it convenient to so do,” said WTCG executive director, Wesley Kirton.
“The official opening of our building a… in the capital city Georgetown will take place as Guyana has emerged as one of the fastest-growing economies globally, driven by its burgeoning energy sector, infrastructure development, and a robust investment climate. As a result, this dynamic environment offers substantial opportunities for trade -both imports into and exports from the country,” Samaro said in his letter of invitation.
“The opening of the World Trade Centre Georgetown signifies not only Guyana’s but the Caribbean Community (CARICOM’s) commitment to fostering international business relations as well as its desire to serve as a key player in global commerce,” the letter adds.
Guyana said that participation in the opening activities will provide an excellent platform to explore the myriad opportunities in areas such as agriculture and agribusiness, mining, tourism, manufacturing, energy and more which Guyana and the CARICOM region now offer.
It said that the WTC Georgetown is the first, and currently the only WTC in the CARICOM region and that the formal opening and related business programme over two days will feature distinguished speakers including government officials, business leaders, and international trade experts.
