The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service says weather alerts remain in effect as hazy and breezy conditions persist across the country.
A Riverine Flood Alert and a High Wind Alert are still active, with the Met Office also warning of a significant presence of Saharan dust in the atmosphere. People with respiratory sensitivities are urged to take the necessary precautions.
Tonight and tomorrow, residents can expect generally hazy and windy conditions with brief showers in some areas. There is also a low to medium chance of isolated moderate to heavy showers, especially over hilly regions during the early morning or afternoon.
Seas remain moderate with waves reaching 2.5 metres in open waters and up to 1.0 metre in sheltered areas.
At Piarco, tonight’s minimum temperature is forecast at 24°C with a high of 32°C tomorrow. Crown Point can expect a low of 25°C tonight and a high of 31°C tomorrow. Heat indices are forecast at 35°C in Trinidad and 34°C in Tobago.
Over the past 24 hours, 37.1 mm of rain fell at Piarco and 28 mm at Crown Point.
The extended three-day forecast shows no major changes, with hazy, breezy conditions and brief showers expected to continue through Sunday.
