Hillview College held its annual Carnival celebrations on Friday at the school's compound in Tunapuna. The theme was “Renewal”
The day's event included Original Calypso competition; a Challenge: calypso and soca icons (Blaxx, Explainer, Black Stalin); Extempo; presentation of Midnight Robber; rhythm section; and ole mas competition.

The judges, including Errol Fabien, Leon De Murrell and Jesse Seignoret, had a difficult time declaring a winner of the calypso competition as the presentations were of high quality.

The event was coordinated by the Carnival committee headed by Music teacher Sherry Ann Saunders, and including Elspeth Ann Salina, Rehana Hosein, Charlene Doolam, and Danielle Lewis.
Derek Bissessar, the acting principal opened the event, while Sharon Ramdeen, the vice principal gave the vote of thanks.

Guest artistes Adesh Samaroo and Rikki Jai had the students dancing and jumping as they sang their popular hits. Malick New Generation Tassa drummers also entertained the students.

The event was a "huge success," the organisers said, and this was due in part to parents and sponsors including the Hillview College Parent Teacher Association, Hillview Old Boys' Association, Bhagwansingh's, Coca-Cola, Prestige Holdings, Starbucks, Executive Cuts, Pro Sign Studio, Designs Balloons and Events, Auto Zone, PSI Drugs, and Toyota Trinidad and Tobago Limited.
