  Hillview Col­lege held its an­nu­al Car­ni­val cel­e­bra­tions on Fri­day at the school's com­pound in Tu­na­puna. The theme was “Re­new­al”

The day's event in­clud­ed Orig­i­nal Ca­lyp­so com­pe­ti­tion; a Chal­lenge: ca­lyp­so and so­ca icons (Blaxx, Ex­plain­er, Black Stal­in); Ex­tem­po; pre­sen­ta­tion of Mid­night Rob­ber; rhythm sec­tion; and ole mas com­pe­ti­tion.

The judges, in­clud­ing Er­rol Fa­bi­en, Leon De Mur­rell and Jesse Seignoret, had a dif­fi­cult time de­clar­ing a win­ner of the ca­lyp­so com­pe­ti­tion as the pre­sen­ta­tions were of high qual­i­ty.

The event was co­or­di­nat­ed by the Car­ni­val com­mit­tee head­ed by Mu­sic teacher Sher­ry Ann Saun­ders, and in­clud­ing El­speth Ann Sali­na, Re­hana Ho­sein, Char­lene Doolam, and Danielle Lewis.

Derek Bisses­sar, the act­ing prin­ci­pal opened the event, while Sharon Ramdeen, the vice prin­ci­pal gave the vote of thanks.

Guest artistes Adesh Sama­roo and Rik­ki Jai had the stu­dents danc­ing and jump­ing as they sang their pop­u­lar hits. Mal­ick New Gen­er­a­tion Tas­sa drum­mers al­so en­ter­tained the stu­dents.

The event was a "huge suc­cess," the or­gan­is­ers said, and this was due in part to par­ents and spon­sors in­clud­ing the Hillview Col­lege Par­ent Teacher As­so­ci­a­tion, Hillview Old Boys' As­so­ci­a­tion, Bhag­wans­ingh's, Co­ca-Co­la, Pres­tige Hold­ings, Star­bucks, Ex­ec­u­tive Cuts, Pro Sign Stu­dio, De­signs Bal­loons and Events, Au­to Zone, PSI Drugs, and Toy­ota Trinidad and To­ba­go Lim­it­ed.
