San Fer­nan­do May­or Robert Louis Par­ris is fac­ing po­ten­tial le­gal ac­tion from lo­cal broad­cast­er Ian Al­leyne over a con­tro­ver­sial Face­book post.

A pre-ac­tion pro­to­col let­ter, dat­ed yes­ter­day, Jan­u­ary 6, 2026, al­leged that May­or Par­ris made a defam­a­to­ry Face­book post tar­get­ing Al­leyne fol­low­ing his cov­er­age of a fire at the Rad­i­ca Trad­ing Build­ing on Cipero Street, San Fer­nan­do, on De­cem­ber 11, 2025.

Al­leyne is the host of the tele­vi­sion and on­line show, Crime Watch, and own­er of the Ian Al­leyne Net­work Lim­it­ed.

Ac­cord­ing to the let­ter, Par­ris’ post in­clud­ed an im­age of Al­leyne along with what was deemed as a ‘deroga­to­ry ex­pres­sion’ and ma­li­cious re­marks. The let­ter al­leged that screen­shots of the post were wide­ly shared on so­cial me­dia, which was la­belled as defam­a­to­ry.

The let­ter sent to Par­ris de­mand­ed a pub­lic apol­o­gy, a ces­sa­tion of fur­ther defam­a­to­ry re­marks, and com­pen­sa­tion for Al­leyne. It said that fail­ure to com­ply by Jan­u­ary 9, could see the mat­ter tak­en to the High Court.

The lawyer rep­re­sent­ing Ian Al­leyne is De­vi Ram­nar­ine of Mag­nus Cham­bers, act­ing on in­struc­tions from Saira Lakhan.
