Public Utilities Minister Barry Padarath has announced that veteran engineer and executive Ian Ramrattan will be the new general manager of the T&T Electricity Commission (T&TEC). Ramrattan is expected to assume the role before the end of the year.
Padarath made the announcement during a media briefing in the diplomatic lounge at Piarco International Airport today, as he oversaw the departure of 25 T&TEC workers to Jamaica to assist in recovery efforts there following Hurricane Melissa.
He said Ramrattan is expected to take office by December 1.
According to T&TEC’s newsletter, Ramrattan was appointed assistant general manager on June 1 and holds a BSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a Master’s in Business Administration.
He joined T&TEC in 1990, working as a shift control engineer, senior control engineer, and in the company’s public lighting department.
Ramrattan will replace acting general manager Vijay Ramnanansingh.
