Es­capee Jose Brit­to was ar­rest­ed more than a month af­ter he fled the Im­mi­gra­tion De­ten­tion Cen­tre (IDC).

Po­lice said of­fi­cers from the Na­tion­al Op­er­a­tions Task Force (NOTF) spot­ted Brit­to stand­ing along the road­side on Moo­nan Road, Waller­field around 3 p.m. on Sat­ur­day.

The of­fi­cers were con­duct­ing an ex­er­cise in the area when they recog­nised Brit­to as one of the peo­ple who es­caped from the IDC on Ju­ly 18.

Po­lice said the of­fi­cers stopped, iden­ti­fied them­selves and cau­tioned Brit­to be­fore ar­rest­ing him.

He was tak­en to the Ari­ma Po­lice Sta­tion.

Brit­to was lat­er charged with es­cap­ing law­ful cus­tody and two counts of as­sault­ing a po­lice of­fi­cer.

His mat­ter is sched­uled to come be­fore the court to­day.
