All schools will be closed on Mon­day in light of the cur­rent river­ine alert which is at lev­el red.

The an­nounce­ment was made by Min­is­ter of Na­tion­al Se­cu­ri­ty and Min­is­ter in the Of­fice of the Prime Min­is­ter Stu­art Young, at a news con­fer­ence this af­ter­noon.

Ear­li­er ru­mours were spread­ing via an old so­cial me­dia post, that schools would have been closed on Mon­day.

How­ev­er, at that time, Ed­u­ca­tion Min­is­ter An­tho­ny Gar­i­ca said it was not true and that he was wait­ing on an up­date from the Met Of­fice.
