Police have not yet held any suspects in connection with the break-in over the weekend at Justice Frank Seepersad's Tobago home, which is located in the Plantations gated community.
Although nothing was stolen, Seepersad expressed concern when contacted for comment.
"Paradise lost. In this twin-island Republic, nowhere is safe, and no one is safe," he said in a brief statement.
Guardian Media understands that someone discovered the break-in on Saturday night while preparing the house for the judge's arrival. A suitcase had been opened and its items were shifted, but nothing was taken. Initially, it was assumed the housekeeper had unpacked the items. However, when Seepersad arrived on Sunday, he confirmed that no one had done so.
Guardian Media also learned that a bathroom window was found to be broken, and footprints were discovered on the wall. Police and security officials responded to the report, where Cpl Dennis and Officer Abrahams processed the scene.
Cpl Dennis told Guardian Media that the investigation is ongoing, and authorities hope to make progress in the case.
