Khan's Poul­try and Meats Lim­it­ed has pumped $16 mil­lion in­to busi­ness ven­tures in Ch­agua­nas.

This dis­clo­sure was made by Nyal Khan, Di­rec­tor at Khan's Poul­try, when he spoke with Guardian Me­dia on Wednes­day, fol­low­ing the open­ing of the com­pa­ny’s newest branch at Munroe Road, Ch­agua­nas. 

Khan said $3 mil­lion was in­vest­ed at the Munroe Road branch, an­oth­er $3 mil­lion was in­vest­ed at the Rod­ney Road, Ch­agua­nas Branch that is sched­uled to be opened next Wednes­day, while some $10 mil­lion was pumped in­to the Raw Fit­ness Health Club that is sched­uled for open­ing at Brent­wood Mall in Feb­ru­ary 2022.  

He said Ch­agua­nas was cho­sen be­cause of the large vol­ume of peo­ple liv­ing in the com­mu­ni­ty.  Khan said the Khan’s Poul­try brand plans to ex­pand across Trinidad with new branch­es open­ing year­ly, and there are plans to open a branch in Cou­va come 2022. 

Nyal Khan told Guardian Me­dia de­spite the pan­dem­ic, poul­try re­mains the top choice of meat for con­sumers be­cause of its af­ford­abil­i­ty, not­ing the de­mand for goat and lamb fell.

"We saw peo­ple mov­ing more to­wards poul­try prod­ucts be­cause it was cheap­er,” he re­vealed.

Khan said the fit­ness cen­tre would be the sec­ond gym for the group, and the de­ci­sion to do the gym was tak­en be­fore the on­set of the pan­dem­ic.

He said it was a long term in­vest­ment.

"The fit­ness in­dus­try is a grow­ing in­dus­try which is sim­ply be­cause of the cul­tur­al habits of peo­ple. The cul­ture 10 and 20 years ago has changed.  Fifty to 60 per­cent of peo­ple be­tween the ages of 18 and 35 years are go­ing to a gym. Peo­ple want to be ac­tive and be healthy," he ob­served.

At to­day’s launch of the new Munroe Road branch, Khan re­called to those present that the busi­ness was start­ed by his fa­ther, Wazir Khan, in Mara­bel­la around 1990.

"He built his busi­ness based on hard work, hon­esty and qual­i­ty.  ‘Qual­i­ty you can trust’ are ma­jor watch­words of the com­pa­ny.  This is what we build our brand on.  We are very much cus­tomer fo­cused," he stat­ed.

Ch­agua­nas May­or Faaiq Mo­hamed said the bor­ough wel­comes all new busi­ness­es.  He re­port­ed that more busi­ness­es are en­ter­ing the Ch­agua­nas land­scape and gen­er­at­ing em­ploy­ment and op­por­tu­ni­ties for burgess­es.
