La Brea man stabbed after fight with friend

A 39-year-old La Brea shop own­er is in a se­ri­ous con­di­tion af­ter be­ing stabbed sev­er­al times by his friend.

He told po­lice that around 8.30 pm on Wednes­day he was at his home, Chin Fung Al­ley, Sobo Vil­lage, where he al­so runs a shop, when he and his friend had an al­ter­ca­tion.

Dur­ing the vi­o­lent con­fronta­tion, his friend stabbed him with a knife and an ice pick re­peat­ed­ly in his chest and ab­domen. The vic­tim was be­ing treat­ed at the In­ten­sive Care Unit of the Point Fortin Hos­pi­tal last night. One of the wounds to the left side of his ab­domen was 3 cm deep. La Brea po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing.

Busi­ness­woman robbed out­side restau­rant

A 41-year-old busi­ness­woman was robbed at gun­point out­side her restau­rant in Cunu­pia on Wednes­day night. Po­lice re­ports in­di­cate that around 8:30 pm on April 23, the own­er of Za­reen’s In­di­an and Asian Food Restau­rant, was seat­ed in her parked ve­hi­cle out­side the es­tab­lish­ment when she was ap­proached by a lone gun­man. The masked sus­pect, de­scribed as a slim-built man of dark com­plex­ion, was dressed in dark jeans and a blue plaid shirt.

He re­port­ed­ly emerged from the east­ern side of the build­ing and point­ed a firearm at her, de­mand­ing the keys to her ve­hi­cle. Fear­ing for her life, she ex­it­ed the ve­hi­cle. The as­sailant then grabbed her hand­bag, which con­tained $5,000 in cash, keys, and oth­er per­son­al items, be­fore flee­ing the scene in her sil­ver Toy­ota Yaris Cross. The ve­hi­cle, val­ued at $270,000, was last seen head­ing west along Munroe Road. The stolen ve­hi­cle al­so con­tained two pairs of shoes val­ued at $1,000. Po­lice launched a search op­er­a­tion in­volv­ing of­fi­cers from the In­ter-Agency Task Force (IATF), the North East­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force (NEDTF), and Air Sup­port Tac­ti­cal, led by Derk Barnes that yield­ed no re­sults.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing.

Po­lice of­fi­cers, civil­ian in­jured in crash

Two po­lice of­fi­cers and a civil­ian were in­jured dur­ing a two ve­hic­u­lar ac­ci­dent along the high­way near Freeport on Wednes­day morn­ing. Ini­tial in­for­ma­tion stat­ed that around 3.05 am, a po­lice con­sta­ble was dri­ving a marked po­lice ve­hi­cle, ac­com­pa­nied by his fe­male col­league, south along the Uri­ah But­ler High­way on the left lane. Ap­prox­i­mate­ly 100 me­tres be­fore the John Pe­ter Walkover, they heard a loud noise and felt an im­pact. The po­lice ve­hi­cle spun and end­ed up fac­ing north­east on the ex­treme right lane. They then saw the dri­ver of a blue Maz­da 3, which was in a ditch on the east­ern side of the high­way, stag­ger­ing as he ex­it­ed. The back of the po­lice ve­hi­cle, in­clud­ing the tail­gate, spare tire, rear fend­ers and left rear rim and tire were dam­aged while the front of the Maza­da was dam­aged.

The male po­lice of­fi­cer had in­juries to his head, neck and back in­juries while the fe­male of­fi­cer com­plained of neck, head, right shoul­der and right­hand in­juries.

The Maz­da 3 dri­ver failed a breathal­yser test with a read­ing of 55 mg. Hen­ry was tak­en to the Ch­agua­nas Health Fa­cil­i­ty for treat­ment, while the po­lice of­fi­cers were con­veyed to the Er­ic Willians Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex.

Ch­agua­nas po­lice of­fi­cers are in­ves­ti­gat­ing.
