A  La Romain couple was terrorised, beaten and robbed by armed intruders during a home invasion yesterday morning.

The man, a straightener and painter, and the woman, a housewife, fell asleep at their home around 12.30 am.

They awoke around 2.30 am after hearing the door open and saw a group of men in dark clothing and wearing masks enter the room.

The men beat the couple on their faces and bodies, then forced them to lie on the ground and hogtied them.

The bandits then ransacked the house and stole TT$10,000 and US$1,000 in cash.

They also took jewellery, cellphones and three bottles of champagne valued at $9,800 and escaped in a Nissan B-15.

The bandits gained access to the home by prying open a glass sliding door.

Officers of the San Fernando Police Station and La Romain Police Station responded, and the couple was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital for treatment.

Investigations are continuing.

During my consultation with Ms Brafit CEO Nicole Joseph-Chin, what was supposed to be a simple mastectomy bra fitting became something much deeper. Her thoughtful questions unlocked emotions I didn’t even realise I was holding in. She comforted, reassured, and helped me face the truth of what was coming. That bra wasn’t just clothing—it was the first real symbol of life after surgery.
