La Romaine man charged with wounding with intent, fire arm and ammunition

23-year-old Nigel Mo­hammed of Pem­ber­ton Street, La Ro­maine will ap­pear vir­tu­al­ly at the San Fer­nan­do Mag­is­trates’ Court to­day. He was charged with wound­ing with in­tent to do griev­ous bod­i­ly harm, pos­ses­sion of a firearm and pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion. De­tails fol­low in this press re­lease from the TTPS:

 

NIGEL MO­HAMMED of Pem­ber­ton Street, La Ro­maine is sched­uled to ap­pear vir­tu­al­ly at the San Fer­nan­do Mag­is­trates’ Court to­day. He was charged for the fol­low­ing of­fences:

1. Wound­ing with in­tent to do griev­ous bod­i­ly harm

2. Pos­ses­sion of a firearm

3. Pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion

The 23-year-old was ar­rest­ed fol­low­ing an in­ci­dent that took place on Sep­tem­ber 10th, 2021. Around 10 pm the sus­pect was at a res­i­dence in La Ro­maine when he al­leged­ly had a heat­ed ar­gu­ment with a 16-year-old male. The two were sep­a­rat­ed by oth­er per­sons present at the home and the sus­pect left. Lat­er that evening, while asleep, the vic­tim was al­leged­ly ac­cost­ed by three as­sailants and shot. He sus­tained a wound to his left leg and was tak­en for treat­ment at the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal.

PC As­cevero con­tin­ued en­quiries in­to the in­ci­dent which led to the ar­rest and charge of the sus­pect. The in­ves­ti­ga­tion was spear­head­ed by Snr Supt Lu­cia Win­ches­ter, ASP Ram­dass, and In­sp Phillip.
