La Romaine woman charged with fraud

Forty-year-old Desri­ann Prince from La Ro­maine was grant­ed $75,000 bail af­ter be­ing charged with forgery of a job let­ter, ut­ter­ing of a forged job let­ter and ob­tain­ing mon­ey by false pre­tences.

She was charged on De­cem­ber 14th by of­fi­cers of the South­ern Di­vi­sion Fraud Squad. The bail was set by Jus­tice of the Peace Bood­lal Balka­ran on the same date.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, on Ju­ly 14th the ac­cused al­leged­ly sub­mit­ted a job let­ter to the Hu­man Re­source Man­age­ment Unit of the Ju­di­cia­ry. The doc­u­ment was sent for ver­i­fi­ca­tion and was found to be false. A re­port was made and a team of of­fi­cers from the Fraud Squad, South­ern Di­vi­sion mount­ed an in­ves­ti­ga­tion. She was ar­rest­ed on De­cem­ber 13th, in con­nec­tion with the mat­ter.

Ms Prince is ex­pect­ed to ap­pear be­fore the San Fer­nan­do Mag­is­trates’ Court on Jan­u­ary 25th. The in­ves­ti­ga­tions were co­or­di­nat­ed by Supt. Reuben and ASP Samuel, su­per­vised by In­sp. (Ag.) Seep­er­sad and con­duct­ed by Cpl (Ag.) Lewis and PCs Williams, Ge­of­fry and Ali.
