A 29-year-old labourer was fatally shot in St. Margaret’s Village, Claxton Bay, on Tuesday night just a short distance from the police station.
Kendell Doolal, of Upper Hillside, San Fernando, and Gopaul Lands, Marabella, was reportedly trying to make his way to the station when he was killed.
Police said that sometime before 8 p.m., Doolal was driving his gold Mazda 3 along Ojer Drive in St. Margaret’s when a gunshot rang out.
Shortly after, he was seen running out of the street toward the police station, but he collapsed along the main road and died.
Two people who witnessed the incident ran into the station minutes later to alert the officers. When police responded, they found Doolal’s lifeless body lying about 100 feet away from his vehicle.
Investigators recovered one spent 9mm shell casing at the scene. Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region 3, are continuing inquiries.
