For the second time in less than a year, a car plunged into the sea in Lambeau, Tobago.
The driver, a Lambeau resident who lives approximately 200 metres away, survived the terrifying ordeal, but remains hospitalised in stable condition.
Her mother, who wished not to be identified, said she was at her daughter’s bedside at Scarborough General Hospital.
She said her daughter was experiencing some pain and was scheduled to undergo X-rays.
In December 2025, a Tobago man veered off the road, almost at the exact location, into the sea. He too survived the crash.
The latest victim’s mother is calling on the authorities to install concrete barriers or cables along the seaside to prevent a tragedy.
“What is the Government doing? This is the second accident at the exact spot,” she said.
Lambeau resident Osbert Bruno said the next driver may not be so fortunate to walk away from the incident.
“I feel if they put a rail, it might prevent vehicles from going over. Even self yuh bounce the rail, yuh might get bend up, but to go down inside, it will stop you,” he said.
Another resident, Tisha, said drivers have a role to play as well in ensuring road safety.
“It’s just a matter of taking your time with precaution, because it’s around the corner. Use a moderate speed,” she said.
Efforts to contact area representative Wane Clarke for a comment were unsuccessful up to press time.
