A Laventille man who was shot by armed gunmen as he drove along the Eastern Main Road, remains hospitalized in a critical condition.
Reports indicate the 32-year-old man of Spring Village, Trou Macaque, was driving his white Nissan B14, around 5.20 pm on April 10, when gunmen opened fire on him in the vicinity of Angostura.
Turning onto the Lady Young Road as he attempted to escape, the injured man lost control of the car which veered off the road. He was shot several times about the body.
The victim was assisted by passersby who witnessed the incident as the gunmen sped off.
The bleeding man was placed in a car belonging to a resident of Second Caldeonia, Morvant – who managed to hail a police vehicle and they were escorted to the Eric William’s Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope.
Meanwhile, the victim’s car was pushed onto the shoulder of the Lady Young Road by persons who came out to assist.
It was later towed by Soo Hong Wrecking Services to the Morvant Police Station.
