A Laventille man was gunned down on Wednesday night as he stood speaking with a friend several streets away from his home.
Javon Mc Bean, 31, of Rigault Street, Laventille, had half of his face blown off in the deadly ambush. His 31-year-old friend, of Petit Valley, suffered minor injuries.
The two men were standing outside an abandoned house on Williams Street, Laventille, around 5 pm on Wednesday, when two gunmen emerged from a white Nissan Tiida and fired several shots in their direction.
Mc Bean was shot in the face, head and back.
The other man drove himself to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he was treated and discharged.
A total of 16 spent 5.56 mm shell casings were recovered at the scene.
